Film fans have long thought that the tricks of Star Wars characters, such as Luke Skywalker being in two different places at once, Darth Vader needing only to look at a man to kill him or Obi-Wan Kenobi placing thoughts in the heads of Stormtroopers, were the stuff of fiction.
